[Sunbeam Talbot Email List] Door card/panel trimming

The lower section of the door panels are trimmed with carpet and the
upper section is vinyl. I have been trying to work out how the join of
the two materials should be. Its not just a case of sticking the carpet
over the vinyl as that would show the carpet edges.

Also it doesn't look like they used vinyl to "bind" the carpet edge
or that they bent the carpet over and stitched it to the vinyl.

Does anyone know how they joined them together originally so that
the carpet edge is hidden yet the carpet appears to stand proud of 
the vinyl ?
