Hi Bill, From the dis-assembly notes of my 55 Alpine I agree with Mal. Plus the holes in the lid are not a large enough diameter for an invisble fasteners. My 55 had oval head chrome screws with a flanged counter sink finishing washer. Readily available in chrome or stainless Regards Don Herr
