[Sunbeam Talbot Email List] Side Screen Bracket

Hi Steve, I am not to sure that securing strap was leather, the straps I have seen and had on a couple of Alpines was a woven black material with a pressed on matal end,(to stop it fraying),the bottom part to the left of the centre, as Work Shop Manual page 40 was also this woven material, with a black metal buckle. If you look at the picture on page 40 I think their sketch tries to deplict the woven strap, Mal Clark.

Hi Guys Just a note on authenticity, I believe the hold down strap was just a leather belt that passed through the footman loops. the owners manual show's it that way as opposed to having a short belt end attached to the loop. A practically identical belt is available from Lebaron Bonney they sell a belt that is made to go around the trunk on a model A ford. It is identical in design and buckle and only needs to be shortened a bit to make it look right

Hi Bill, thats almost the same bracket I made for my Alpine to hold the header rail in place, I assume this was a later fitment,as in the handbook and my 53 Alpine there are those arc shaped wooden end blocks, supposed to hold the header, but they don't work,so the clip is far better, Thanks Mal Clark.

Hi Mal, thanks for the info re:manual pages

The side screen bracket on my car is identical to the one on this Alpine except
mine is at 90deg to the bulkhead.
It has the remnants of some webbing material behind it which I assume
was once a strap to secure something ?
