Hi, Ray I guess a few would have removed their heaters, anyway it is quite simply, disconect the steel operating cable from the heater tap beside the battery on the r/h side ( your passenger side) there are electrical wires for the heater unit two are for the blower fan switch,I think these disconnect at the blower fan beside the heater tap,you better check where the wiring goes on your car, anything could have been altered after all these years. inside the car on the r/h side of the heater, you will find the rubber 1/2" hose from the side of the heater that connects to a steel or copper pipe that comes from that heater tap,(I always remove the heater tap from under the hood) or cut the rubber hose and renew it when refitting the heater. On the L/H side a steel/copper pipe comes out of the side of the heater and goes forward through the fire wall and connects to a 1/2" rubber hose, disconnect the hose where it connects in the engine bay. All that is left is 4 X 3/16 bolts that hold the heater unit up, remove these are the heater can be eased away and down, you may get some water fall out of the heater and pipes,so remove any carpets that are below the heater, remember the disconnected cable to the heater tap, it has to be drawn through the fire wall as well as that L/h steel pipe and watch the wiring as it comes away with the heater, also watch for the large heater connecting round neck at the back of the heater,r/h side as it leaves the rubber from the blower fan, this is inside the car. While you are doing all this work, check the condition of the connecting rubber from the blower fan to inside the car, usually these are rock hard or split, keep in mind these are availible new through me, one of Bob Stewart excellent rubbers he makes, Hope this hasn't put you off removing your heater. and good luck,Mal Clark.
