My Alpine also produces substantial heat ... nice in cooler weather. When I had a peek under the carpets, I didn t see any insulation or heat shields. My car was restored so I don t know if there was originally any such thing. 

Regardless, suggest you put some of that high tech heat barrier under the carpets. I will likely do this on my AlPine when it comes to the USA.



BTW, on my E-type, the original noise/heat insulation  is still in place & works surprisingly well. The tunnel & floor do not get at all hot.
