Mal,
I think the naming convention is that positive is what you need.
Whichever the naming convention runs, the steering pivot 'column' (i.e. the line that runs through the top and bottom stub axle pivots) has to be forward of the tyre contact patch centre. Thus, the wheel will always tend to swing into line behind the steering pivot line. Think of a shopping trolley, which has very extreme castor angle and whose wheels always swing round to trail the pivot axis. Having your castor angle the wrong way round would give you positively unstable front wheels; any movement away from the straight ahead would self-reinforce.
Hope this helps,
Richard

> Hi everyone,a question I asked a while ago, on the Talbots and Alpines, The Workshop Manual states the Castor angle being 3 degrees, it has to be 3 degrees positive or 3 degrees negative, but as yet not clear on what it should be, is there anyone more in the know than me, that knows, Thanks Mal Clark
