[Sunbeam Talbot Email List] wheel balancing

Hi guys. I am resurrecting an earlier thread on wheel balancing for
follow-up. My MK I has wheels that the best local shop says cannot be
balanced because the wheels (originals) are each too bent. Any idea if
these Dyna Beads will work inside my tubes for balancing bent wheels that
cannot be balanced via the spin balance/lead weights system due to being too
bent? Dyna Beads' website does indicate that the beads can go in via the
tube valve stem on old cars, etc., so it appears that the tubes are not an
issue for them any longer. Must have made the beads smaller. I have these
in the tires of my Mercedes CLK convertible since the aftermarket wheels I
have on it are so difficult to balance and they are really great. Thanks.

Didn't I read where you simply put the beads inside the tube?

I looked at the "How does it work" and it seems to require tubeless tyres, I
think unless you do what we used to do for Sporting Trials in the 50's/60's
and re-vulcanise a new tractor valve in place of the old one so that we
could get the air out quickly and run flat 2 psi, bolted to the rim tyres.
If the beads are small enough, they would pass through this valve.
On the other hand, could I run my Michelin X as tubeless ..... I'm not sure
but I think not.
Another thought .... could we use modern alloy stick-on weights to balance
the rim only in the well of the rim before fitting the tyre.

Since most of the OEM wheels are subject to Rootes rather "liberal" run-out
tolerances, I thought this product might be interesting from a practical
point of view as well as getting rid of what looks like pounds of lead
weights on the wheels.
