I can vouch for the quality of David's acrylic windows, he made me a set
for Frank Jenkins "Special" the quality and fit is outstanding, I installed
them using Velcro in the slides and they came out very nice indeed.
I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a set.

Hi Guys,
Regarding the side windows, I know I have been saying this for a
while but I am going to make some sets. I have only one thing I
still need. One of those round things for the shop. You know a
"round to it".
I while back I made, using old original side windows, two routing
jigs which turn out very accurate pieces. I also bought a sheet of
1/8" special plexi which is hardened on both sides and much more
scratch resistant than standard plexiglas.
But to make the windows as per original I also have to cut some
acrylic blocks for the handles and mill a little flute down each side
and then sand and polish each handle. This gets a little time
consuming.
Also while my special acrylic sheet is the bee's knee's for scratch
resistance, the coating the manufacturer puts on the plexi prevents
solvent glue from softening the surface and makes gluing on the
handles a problem. What I have to do to get around this problem is
with a masking stencil, sandblast just the areas where the handles
mount. This then allows the glue to work.
Finally the original windows have bevels on the edges. So these also
need to be created with files or sanding blocks, and then polished up.
By the way, the originals were not a soft unbreakable plastic like a
polycarbonate (Lexan), but were a hard regular acrylic type material.
Regards,
Dave Reina
